Jeff Weaver was Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign manager. Weaver had been an occasionally divisive figure within the 2016 campaign. After the campaign ended, Weaver was named in 2016 president of Sander's new Our Revolution organization. The decision was so controversial that some staff members quit, Politico reported. On the same day that Sanders introduced the group, The New York Times reported that Our Revolution had been "met by a staff revolt" in the form of eight staff resignations. "A majority of the staff quit as a result of Jeff joining,"
one person told the news outlet, adding they had joined the group with a promise from Sanders that Weaver would not be involved. Weaver had been accused earlier by staffers of sexual harassment on the 2016 campaign. Sanders, Weaver and the senator's campaign committee have all since expressed regret over the inappropriate behavior.
"I am not going to sit here and tell you that we did everything right in terms of human resources, in terms of addressing the needs that I'm hearing from now, that women felt disrespected, that there was sexual harassment, which was not dealt with as effectively as possible," Sanders told CNN's Anderson Cooper last week, apologizing to "any woman who feels like she was not treated appropriately."
In 2017, Nina Turner replaced Weaver as the president of Our Revolution. Shortly after Our Revolution launched, staffers who had key roles on the campaign's digital and organizing teams resigned from the group amid a lingering differences with Weaver.
